Manchester super major tournament review!

Image
We continue on the Tzeentch train, this time making the long trek to the grimdark north. We made a slight change to the list from Southampton, dropping a Fateskimmer in favour of 10 Pink Horrors and adding an extra Flamer to one of the squads. List .Be'lakor  -warlord trait: Shadow Lord, Pall of Despair, Shrouded Step  .Fateskimmer -staff of change, Bolt of Change, Infernal Gateway  .Fluxmaster -staff of change, Gaze of Fate, Endless Grimoire  .10 Pink Horrors .Exalted Flamer  .Exalted Flamer .6 Flamers  .5 Flamers .5 Flamers  .5 Screamers  .5 Screamers .Burning Chariot .Burning Chariot  .Burning Chariot  Game 1 vs Custodes Secondaries: Rebels-15 Warp Ritual-12 Banners-10 So this game had me worried going in, never having beat Custodes in a game at an event. My opponent had 3 units of bikes, the bike captain, Trajan, Banner dude, 3 individual terminators, 3 units of custode guard and 1 unit of Venetari. I went first, deploying on the lin...

Southampton Super Major tournament review

Image
This past weekend I attended the Southampton super major in my continued pursuit for that number 1 spot for Daemons in the UKTC. I decided to go back to my daemonic roots and go mono Tzeentch in an attempt to combat the more shooty meta we are currently in. List .Be'lakor  -warlord trait: Shadow Lord, Pall of Despair, Shrouded Step  .Fateskimmer -staff of change, Bolt of Change, Infernal Flames  .Fateskimmer  -staff of change, Infernal Gateway, Gaze of Fate  .Fluxmaster -staff of change, Gaze of Fate, Infernal Flames .Exalted Flamer  .Exalted Flamer .5 Flamers  .5 Flamers .5 Flamers  .5 Screamers  .5 Screamers .Burning Chariot .Burning Chariot  .Burning Chariot  Game 1 vs Orks Secondaries: Rebels-15  Bring it Down-14 Warp Ritual-12 This was an interesting game vs Jez with his unusual Ork list with 3 deff dreads, 6 killa kans, mega and standard nobz plus some gross and a battle wagon. I sent screamers down the middle and flank t...

Playing mono Tzeentch competitively!

Image
Today we are going to go over playing a mono tzeentch list and the tricks and combos to use when playing your games. So the first thing to know with a pure Tzeentch list is that against ranged you are incredibly durable, but in combat you mostly fold in like paper. Take full advantage of your screens, overwatch and the few units you will have that can take a combat punch. Psychic So, all of your characters are psykers and good ones at that. Your big birds have 3 casts and 2 denies with either +1 or +2 to cast. Your Heralds have 2 casts and 1 deny and the Fateskimmer get a +1 if they have Horrors. You have great damage spells in Bolt of Change (roll 9 dice for a visible enemy unit in 18" with every 5+ being a mortal wound causing an additional mortal wound for every model that was destroyed to a maximum of 3 additional mortal wounds) and Infernal Gateway (closest visible enemy unit within 18" and all enemy units within 3" of that unit take d3 mortal wounds or 3 mortal wou...

Saffron Slam VI tournament review

Image
I know it's been a while, real life unfortunately get's in the way sometimes but now it's time to get to blogging again! So any of the followers of this blog knows I dropped Greater Daemons a while ago just going with Belly leading his horde of Daemons. With the new season under way and a very shooty meta starting to manifest, I've decided to drop Belly himself and start testing out lists without any of the big guys! Overall I think there is real potential with some tweaking here. My list Daemon Prince of Nurgle 185pts Wings, sword, corruption, Shrivelling Pox  Daemon Prince of Khorne 185pts Wings, sword, A'rgath, Immense power Fluxmaster 115pts Staff of Change, Bolt of Change, Infernal Flames, endless grimoire  Trancweaver 70pts Delightful Agonies  10 Bloodletters 130pts 10 Bloodletters 130pts 10 Daemonettes 120pts  10 Daemonettes 120pts  10 Daemonettes 120pts  5 Fiends 150pts 5 Fiends 150pts 5 Flamers 125pts 5 Flamers 125pts 5 Flamers 125pts 5 Flesh Hound...

Disciples of Be'lakor in Arks of Omen!

Image
So with Arks of Omen on the horizon and the point changes and dataslates out in the wild, I wanted to talk about the Disciples of Be'lakor and how all the changes affect the followers of   the first Prince! Disciples have been a very strange mini faction, since it's Daemons with the options to add a Chaos knight Korvax and CSM legion specific to Be'lakor letting you soup while still being a "single faction". Though today we won't talking about the CSM options as personally I don't see them as making a Disciples list very optimal for competitive play with the options you already have available through Daemons and Knights. Today I want to talk about why Disciples could be the best way to run Daemons going into the Arks of Omen meta! Arks of Omen detachment  So the new detachment kind of screws us over since we can no longer get god specific warpstorm abilities unless you play pure mono god, and of course Disciples is Undivided. Though the new detachment work...

Daemon dataslate and point changes!

Image
So, the moment we have all been waiting for is here! I scrambled to get this written up as soon as the dataslate and points update dropped just so I could share the amazing changes we have gotten as a faction!!! Point changes Indomitable Onslaught +10pts So, the 8 wound phase cap has been bumped to 50pts making the thirster 360pts. Not a huge change and you will still see him in competitive lists. Karanak -10pts Karank drops 10pts to 90 which is cool. It may not seem all that great until you realise Flesh Hounds have now become almost mandatory for Daemons, and Karanak makes your flesh hounds slightly better with the standard re-roll 1's to wound but also flat re-rolls to wound vs psykers. Plus, who don't love a great big 3 headed angry dog! Bloodcrushers -5pts Going down to 40pts, means a unit of 3 is now 10pts cheaper than a unit of 10 letters. Though I still think letters are better overall, a unit of 3 is definitely worth considering due to better toughness, 4+ combat save ...

New year, new goals!

Image
So another year comes to an end. It has been a very interesting year for me in this hobby, I took a hiatus in January through to June. Came back and got straight back into competitive play. Got my first event wins, managed to pick up 4 events overall with a few podiums, have super enjoyed the new Daemon codex, expanded my True Daemon Lord brand, and just in general had one of my favourite years of hobby. With 2023 on the horizon, I think it is very important to set goals for the year for myself. Not just in the hobby but in general life. Though this is a hobby blog so those general goals are not important. What I want to do is share those goals and then be able to look back on them this time next year and either be happy that I achieved them, or laugh at how miserably I failed. Goal 1 This is a simple and pretty common one. I want to get atleast a whole unit built and fully painted to atleast tabletop standard every month. Considering I like to make lists with units I have that are eit...
