Chaos Daemon point changes
So the Chaos Daemon codex has been out now for close to two months already, and I think it's fair to say we are in far better state than we were pre-release. The new codex is strong and while lacking as much flavour as it once had, I think the biggest issue it has is point costs. With GW compensating for our new untouchable Daemon save by slightly overcosting a few units.
So today I just want to put foward my suggestions on some additional positive changes for when GW inevitably hike up the points of certain flamey Bois.
Flamers: old-25pts new-35pts
Let's start with the obvious one, Flamers are very cleary undercosted and while being the only unit who is, they definitely heavily prop up the majority of Daemon lists and now see themselves in alot of CSM, Tsons and Knight lists too.
3 wounds at T4 with a 3+ save vs range, and d6+3 auto hitting shots that are buffable multiple ways is just too good for 25pts per model. They don't need to be ripped to shreds with an overreaction, but I think a 10pt increase makes them less ridiculous while still being a unit you want a couple of in your lists.
All four main troops: -2pts per model
Let's be straight, we have some good troop choices in Daemonettes and Bloodletters (both of which I am currently running in high numbers). The former fast as hell and have a shed load of attacks, the latter Packing a real punch with reliable deepstrike charges.
Pink Horrors are not bad for holding onto backfield objectives with their 3+ save vs range and average extra 10 Blues and 5 Brims per squad. All three are slightly too expensive though all have something they are good at, speed, punch and durability. Unfortunately Plaguebearers are just not good enough in comparison. while T5 and 2 wounds seems good on the surface, there is just to many answers to it in the meta now a days.
They really needed a damage negation like -1 or fnp to really stand out, but they are just over shadowed and at 150pts just don't cut it.
Think a 2pt per model drop would open up just a little more space for that extra unit that seems to be missing in your lists, it probably will not bring Plaguebearers to the forefront of Troops, but 130pts is better than 150pts.
Bloodcrushers: old-45pts new-35pts
Bloodcrushers are so close to being good, over three times the price of a bloodletter, you get 3 more wounds and T5, an extra attack with the hellblade and four malefic attacks at str5/7 -2. Their big drawback is that they are cavalry and easily move blocked with not being able to go through walls. I think a 10pt drop per crusher is quite significant and may be abit to good but would make them a really top tier unit in the codex in my opinion.
Beasts of Nurgle: old-80pts new-60pts
Oh Beasts, how I so want to love them. When I saw the profile I fell in love, then I saw the price...
T6, 7 wounds that heal if they don't die at the end of the Phase and 6 str6 -2 2 damage attacks plus a 6" heroic is awesome, and I really think with about a 20pt drop, they become a real staple of some Daemon lists.
Screamers: old-30pts new-25pts
I actually think Screamers perform quite a useful role, they are good at finishing off those bigger targets, and yes they will die fter, but with a point drop, they become quite efficient at their job while remaining fairly cheap for doing it.
Their teleport is super good, being handy for early move blocking, late objective holding or grabbing that extra point on rebels. 75pts for 3 becomes a fairly decent bargain for 9 T4 wounds with a 3+ save vs range. They already see play, but 90pts to me just seems abit to much.
Remember this is my opinion, I do think we are in a very good spot but if GW decide to ham fist the Flamer points hike, then I do feel we need some reductions elsewhere considering we feel about 10% overpriced as a faction.
